Robust protection (landfill and coastal engineering)
Products: NP3, NP3.3, NP4, NP5, NP6, NP7, NP8, NP9, NP11, NP14, NP17, NP19, NP22, NP25
Terram NP geotextiles provide a number of functions: protection and separation/ filtration. These make these thick geotextiles ideal for:
- the protection of impermeable membranes
landfill basal areas, side walls and caps,
tailing lagoons, reservoirs, balancing ponds, reed beds, artificial lakes - to prevent soil erosion from beneath rock armour and pre-cast concrete revetments, sea shores, rivers and water channels, lakes and reservoirs
These robust textiles are able to resist damage that could otherwise be caused during the placement of angular stone/rock and go on to deal with point loads in service life whether it's beneath 20m landfill waste or beneath rock for foreshore defences.
Application areas include:
- Landfill engineering
- Coastal and Waterways
- Highways
- Pipeline and utility protection
- Landscaping
Landfill engineering
Balancing the cost/quality of the drainage stone with the level of protection that it will demand is part of the engineering process. However, the performance of the proposed combination will have to be confirmed by cylinder testing if it is to be approved in the UK by the Environmental Agency. The NP robust geotextile range means that there are grades for use with inexpensive, aggressive stone as well as for expensive, more-rounded alternatives.
Coastal and waterways engineering
The hydraulic and filtration properties of Terram standard geotextiles makes them highly effective in replacing traditional filter layers. Typically, a single layer of geotextile can replace a succession of stone filter layers. A single bedding layer of stone is laid on the geotextile and this is followed by the rock armour.
Geocomposites to save time and money
Terram NP textiles are also used to form composites in combination with Terram drainage nets, grids, band drains and lining membranes to form unique solutions to site-specific conditions. This means that factory-controlled manufacturing can be used to provide single products with multiple functions that will be installed in one pass, saving time and money.
