TERRAM Takes On Charity Mud Run

The TERRAM team is constantly making solutions for tough terrain, but how would they cope with the more daunting challenge of ring grapples, slides and giant airbags?

That was the question posed to eight brave souls from our Maldon site – all of whom signed up to take on the muddy barriers of the Adrenalin Brighton Obstacle Course Race.

The team signed up for the challenge to support Farleigh Hospice in Chelmsford, a good cause that we have a long-standing relationship with.

Each of our hardy crew tackled around 12 Total Wipeout-style hurdles and a 5K run at the event, which tested the competitors’ fitness and teamwork to the limit.

Combined with a TERRAM fundraising quiz, sponsorship from the run raised £1,878 for the hospice.

Mud-runner Emma Hernandez, our supply chain and purchasing manager, said: “Farleigh Hospice is our chosen charity so we wanted to do something for them, and something that encouraged people from both sides of our operation – the shop floor and office – to do something fun together.

“The company is also trying to promote healthy living amongst our workforce so the run also gave people something to aim for.”

The team (see members below) finished the assault course together without injury – except one.

Emma said: “My face hurt because I laughed so much. It was great fun.”

Dominique Brunning, fundraising manager at Farleigh Hospice, said: “"We are so very grateful to TERRAM for all their fundraising. Without companies like them we would not be able to deliver our vital services across mid-Essex."

Having conquered Brighton at the run in Stanmer Park, the crew are now looking at a tougher event in November called the Nuclear Race. We’ll update the TERRAM website if that goes ahead.
