Rail
Terram has been manufacturing a wide range of geosynthetic materials at its factory in Wales for over 25 years and presently supplies product to over 60 countries around the world. Various products from the Terram range have been used in the railway industry throughout this time.
Terram have been engaged in consultation with the railway track industry to exchange experience and understanding of the complex problems of soil and ballast separation. This process resulted in the development of the 'PW' (Permanent Way) range of products.
The PW range comprises;
-
PW1
Geotextile for use as a separator for use as an alternative to sub-ballast. -
PW2
'Drainage enhancing' high strength composite most effective over coarse or granular sub-grade soils e.g. old track bed. -
PW4-LA
Terram PW4-LA is a composite formed from Terram 4000 and Tensar SS40LA geogrid. Tensar SS40 improves track life and performance by stiffening ballast laid over weak ground. The advantage of Terram PW4-LA is the speed at which a geotextile filter and grid reinforcement can be laid in a single pass with the beneficial effect on construction costs.
